Summer of Service Youth Program Kicks Off Its 7th Year
Enrollment Begins May 1st (limited to 35 students)
St. Patrick’s Residence is excited to be getting the 2014 “Summer of Service” program underway. The “Summer of Service” program targets youth, ages 13-17. The objective of the program is to promote a passion for service that hopefully will continue even after the program ends. We want to introduce young people to the elderly through intergenerational activities.
The “Summer of Service” program will run for five consecutive weeks beginning Monday, June 23rd and ending Friday, July 25th. Enrollment begins on May 1st and is limited to thirty-five students, so we recommend you enroll quickly due to the popularity of the program. Students who enroll must attend one of two orientation sessions to participate. Orientation dates are Thursday, May 29th at 4:00 p.m. or Saturday, May 31st at 10:00 a.m.
The Volunteer Department will work with volunteers and their families to schedule time around busy summer family events and vacations. This is a great opportunity for students to earn their required community service hours, while at the same time, making a difference in the lives of the elderly.
For more information regarding the “Summer of Service” program or to enroll in an orientation session, please call Jill Whitledge, Volunteer Coordinator, at (630) 416-6565, extension 528.
